U.S. Under 18 squad beats Canada for Gold

PLZEN, Czech Republic -- Canada came up short at the world under-18 hockey championship -- but a silver-medal finish was the least of its concerns.

U.S. phenom Phil Kessel scored three times and added an assist as the Americans won gold with a 5-1 win over Canada in the title game.  Kessel finished the tournament with a whopping ten goals in just six games.  He's considered a lock for the No. 1 pick in the 2006 NHL draft.

The game was marred by an awkward hit that sent Canadian forward Colton Yellow Horn headfirst into the boards in the waning moments of the third period.
