Star scorer Alexei Kovalev of the Montreal Canadiens will undergo knee surgery Tuesday in Pittsburgh. Habs GM Bob Gainey was to address the media at the Bell Centre later Monday. Atlanta Thrashers winger Ilya Kovalchuk, who posted eight points in three games, is the NHL's offensive player of the week while Dallas goaltender Marty Turco is the defensive award winner after leading the Stars to three victories.
