Thrashers end Hurricanes' winning streak
Ilya Kovalchuk had two goals and two assists, and Marian Hossa scored the go-ahead goal in the third period to lead the Atlanta Thrashers past the Carolina Hurricanes 5-2 on Sunday. Crosby plays but Pens fall to Lightning
Fredrik Modin scored two power-play goals and John Grahame stopped 20 shots in the Tampa Bay Lightning's 4-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday. Avalanche make short work of Canucks
Milan Hejduk scored 11 seconds into the game and Dan Hinote finally got his first goal of the season Sunday night to lift the Colorado Avalanche to a 6-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks and arch-enemy Todd Bertuzzi. Hejduk streaked toward the Vancouver goal and took a nice feed from Alex Tanguay to beat Alex Auld for the second-fastest goal in franchise history. 11/27/2005 7:51 PM

Bryzgalov backstops Ducks to victory
Apparently Ilya Bryzgalov did not get the memo regarding the NHL's new, high-scoring style of play. Bryzgalov continued his impressive run by making 35 saves, including several impressive stops in the third period, to provide the backbone for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim's 3-1 triumph over the Chicago Blackhawks. 11/27/2005 5:55 PM

Canadiens recall Huet, Danis sent down
The Montreal Canadiens have recalled goaltender Cristobal Huet from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. The Canadiens assigned goaltender Yann Danis to the Bulldogs. Huet, 30, was assigned to Hamilton for conditioning on November 14 to recover from an off-season knee surgery. 11/27/2005 11:03 AM

Blues playoff streak in jeopardy
When St. Louis Blues owner Bill Laurie decided to sell the team, he slashed payroll and shipped out star defenceman Chris Pronger rather than signing him to a long-term deal, believing that would make the team more attractive to potential buyers. For now, the franchise is suffering mightily for it. The sad-sack Blues have four victories in the first 22 games this season and are worst in the NHL with 11 points. 11/27/2005 8:19 AM

Konowalchuk to have wrist surgery
The Colorado Avalanche announced today that left wing Steve Konowalchuk will need surgery on his right wrist to repair torn ligaments. He will miss the remainder of the 2005-06 season. "Further examination along with an MRI confirmed that Steve has torn ligaments in his right wrist and that surgery is necessary," said Avalanche Head Athletic Trainer Matt Sokolowski. Canucks face Avalanche in Denver
The Vancouver Canucks will try to get back on the winning track this evening when they visit the Colorado Avalanche at the Pepsi Center. The Canucks had a three-game win streak snapped Saturday night in Phoenix.
