The Chicago Blackhawks have hired Trent Yawney as the team's new head coach, Sportsnet can confirm. The club will hold a press conference at the United Center Thursday afternoon to announce the signing.Yawney enjoyed a 12-year NHL career as a defenceman, spending several seasons with the Blackhawks. The Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan native became an assistant coach with he Hawks in the 1999-2000 season before accepting the head coaching job with the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League.The Hawks named Dale Tallon general manager of the club on June 21 and his first move was relieving Brian Sutter of bench boss duties.
