The Devil heads to the Island


The New York Islanders have found a sniper to play with Alexei Yashin, signing free agent forward Miroslav Satan to a three-year deal.
Satan became an unrestricted free agent when the Buffalo Sabres opted not to give him a qualifying offer.
In 2003-04 with the Sabres, the enigmatic Satan scored 29 goals and 28 assists for 57 points. In nine NHL season, the 29-year-old has 259 goals and 260 assists for 519 points in 704 games.






Defenceman Mathieu Dandenault has signed with the Montreal Canadiens, TSN has learned.
Dandenault agreed to a four-year deal worth $7 million.
The Canadiens were in need of defensive help after deciding not to pick up the option on Patrice Brisebois.
Dandenault has played his entire 9-year NHL career with the Detroit Red Wings. He played 616 in Detroit, scoring 48 goals, 101 assists and 149 points. A solid defender, he is +46 in his career.
Dandenault was a standout for Sherbrooke, his hometown, in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In two season, he scored 54 goals and 106 assists for 160 points.
